What is Carvedilol:
Carvedilol is a kind of medication which has the potential to work as both an alpha adrenergic receptor blocker (α1) and a non-selective beta adrenergic receptor blocker (β1, β2).
The S(-) and R(+) enantiomers have alpha blocking activity and on the other hand S(-) enantiomer accounts for the beta blocking activity.
Uses of Carvedilol Tablets:
Carvedilol tablets basically recommended in order to manage the congestive heart failure (CHF), commonly as an adjunct to ACE inhibitors, which stands for angiotensin-converting-enzyme inhibitor. In clinical studies this medication has been shown to reduce mortality and hospitalizations in people with Congestive Heart Failure.
The positive effect of this medication was found when it was used for the long-term in clinically stable congestive heart failure patients.
Apart from this, carvedilol also can be used in the treatment of patients with hypertension. This medication may be used alone or with the other anti-hypertensive agents.
Also, this medication can be used for Left Ventricular Dysfunction Following Myocardial Infarction. Carvedilol 6.25 mg is also recommended for use in patients who are clinically stable and have survived with the acute myocardial infarction & have a left ventricular ejection fraction in order to reduce cardiovascular mortality.
Carvedilol Side Effects:
The most common side effects of Carvedilol are as follows:

Requirement of treatment in the case of Vasodilatory symptoms is necessary but it could be useful to separate the time of dosing of Carvedilol 25mg from that of the ACE inhibitor or to reduce the temporary dose of the ACE inhibitor.
The dose of Carvedilol should not be increased until symptoms of worsening heart failure or vasodilation have been stabilized.
Fluid retention (with or without transient worsening heart failure symptoms) should be treated by an increase in the dose of diuretics.
The dose of Carvedilol needs to be reduced in case if the patient experienced bradycardia.
Safety during pregnancy or breastfeeding is not specified. Use of this medication is not recommended in patients with liver problems. Carvedilol 6.25mg is a nonselective beta blocker and alpha-1 blocker which may involve dilation of blood vessels.
In 1978 the patent was established and later in 1995 this medication was approved for medical use in the United States.
And in 2017, Carvedilol became the 29th most commonly prescribed medicine in the USA, in order to account for more than 22 million prescriptions.
